The Florida Department of Health in Duval County is working to improve the health status of residents in Jacksonville. We offer educational workshops and health information at churches, community centers, and other locations throughout the city. Our Registered Dietitians, Health Educators and other health personnel offer a variety of programs and services to help people make informed decisions about managing their health. If you have diabetes or have a family history of diabetes and want to learn how to manage the disease or lower your risk, call A New DEAL Diabetes Education Program.

Family Planning Program Services offer specialized educational workshops for teens and young adults to educate them about sexually transmitted diseases and unintended pregnancies. These workshops are presented by Health Educators and available by request for parents, teens, and young adults; refer to the Family Planning Outreach and Education page.

Duval County, like many communities across Florida and the nation, has a large population of people who are obese or overweight. The Healthiest Weight Florida Initiative is a collaborative effort with public and private partners to help children and adults make consistent, informed decisions about eating healthy and staying active!
