Jacksonville, Florida - Florida Department of Health in Duval County (DOH-Duval) will now operate under the leadership of Antonio Nichols, the agency’s longtime Assistant Director.

Mr. Nichols brings over 20 years of public health experience to the Interim Health Officer role. He began his career in 1999 with the Environmental Health division of DOH-Duval. In 2014, he became the agency’s Finance/Accounting Director and Chief Financial Officer. Continuing on a career path of growth, commitment, and transparency, Mr. Nichols transitioned into his previous role as Assistant Director of DOH-Duval in 2016. He is the DOH representative for Mayor Curry’s Directors meetings, a frequent speaker and attendee at Jacksonville City Council meetings, and has provided leadership to many public health initiatives, most recently being the agency’s COVID-19 emergency response for our County.

Mr. Nichols is a strong advocate for servant leadership and helping others to foster their own leadership skills.
