La Guía Hispana of Jacksonville

The Jacksonville Hispanic Guide is brought to the Spanish speaking community to locate services available in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida. La Guía is a joint project brough by the voluntary efforts of the Hispanic Health Council of Jacksonville and the Mayor’s Hispanic American Advisory Board (MHAAB).

The funds for La Guía include a CATCH (Community Access to Child Health) Planning Grant awarded by the American Academy of Pediatrics to two local pediatricians, Dr. Laura Beverly and Dr. Patricia Solo-Josephson. Their project identified healthcare access barriers experienced by our area’s Hispanic immigrant pediatric patients and their families. Additional funds and resources were provided by private donations raised by members of the Hispanic Health Council of Jacksonville and the Mayor’s Hispanic American Advisory Board.

The purpose of La Guía is to connect the Hispanic community with various available resources. The goal is to overcome some of the barriers identified. Many of the services included in La GUÍA are available in Spanish, unless otherwise noted. La Guía includes 49 categories of resources, as well as, important phone numbers and information regarding health insurance coverage, financial, social, legal, government, and other services available.
