Agape FQHC

JACKSONVILLE- The Duval County Health Department (DCHD) announced today that the
Agape Health Center Network has received continued federal funding in the amount of $1.5
million for the next three years as a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). Under the Public
Health Service Act, FQHCs provide core primary care services to underserved populations.

“This partnership has served the community well. Over the next three years, DCHD will be
working with the Board of Agape to find alternatives for FQHC administrative and health care
services while assuring the continuation of primary care for Agape patients,” said Interim Duval
County Health Department Director Dr. Dawn Allicock. “This stable funding will facilitate a
smooth transition so that DCHD can focus on core public health services. The result will be
better health for the entire community.”

FQHCs provide primary and preventive care services to underserved populations based on
their ability to pay, including individuals who have language and cultural sensitivities. In Florida,
most FQHCs are managed by private organizations.

There are currently 11 CHDs serving as co-applicants of FQHCs for their respective county:
Lake, Duval, Citrus, Hernando, Union, Sarasota, Osceola, Gulf, Walton, Palm Beach, and
Liberty. Palm Beach, Liberty, and Citrus counties are transitioning services from health
department administration to their respective partnered organizations.
