Dr. Wells PortraitIt is my pleasure and privilege to serve this community as its Health Officer.  As a family physician, I am committed to the improvement of the health and wellbeing of the residents and families who call this area home.

Our responsibility at the Department of Health in Duval County is to protect, promote and improve the health of all people in Florida through integrated state, county, and community efforts. Duval County is a large, culturally and economically diverse area that our department supports with one of the largest public health clinical programs in Florida as well as a dental program that serves more than 20,000 children per year. Through agency efforts, collaborations and partnerships, DOH Duval staff are able to guard against the spread of communicable disease, maintain a state of readiness for emergency response, contribute to the education of future public health leaders, and implement interventions to address health issues such as diabetes, asthma, infant mortality, and obesity. Our focus is to assist you in preventing health problems by providing health and nutritional information, access to health services such as immunizations, women's health, pediatric care, and limited maternity care. We also provide Vital Statistics services including Birth and Death Certificates.

I encourage you to become familiar with the services we offer and allow us to provide what you need. We have a staff of dedicated professionals who are committed to community health improvement. We intend to contribute positively to changing the health outcomes for residents of our community.

In service,

Kelli T. Wells, M.D
